Child Disability Benefit (CDB)

What does Child Disability Benefit mean?

The Child Disability Benefit is a tax-free monthly amount for families caring for a child under 18 who qualifies for the Disability Tax Credit. It is added to the Canada Child Benefit.

Why this term matters

For Canadian families of autistic or neurodivergent children who already receive the Canada Child Benefit, qualifying for the Disability Tax Credit can unlock this additional monthly tax-free payment, which can help offset some of the extra costs that often come with raising a child with higher support needs.

Canadian context

Administered by the Canada Revenue Agency; eligibility is tied to Disability Tax Credit approval.
